A note from CIHR to all investigators regarding the deadline for strategic funding opportunity currently posted on ResearchNet: advisory for Mechanisms and Translational Solutions Team Grant.
In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, CIHR previously communicated that all posted deadlines for strategic funding opportunities are on hold until further notice, that potential applicants are asked to stand by and refrain from applying to posted opportunities, and that a date of July 2, 2020 was temporarily inserted and will be revised when more information becomes available.
CIHR appreciates that lack of definitive timelines has created uncertainty for some investigators who are engaged in preparing various types of applications as the July 2, 2020 approaches. However, the decision to adjudicate the previously postponed Spring 2020 Project Grant Competition this summer has delayed the process of determining new deadlines for the very large number of strategic funding opportunities.
CIHR wishes to reinforce the previous communication that the July 2, 2020 date is a placeholder date and that potential applicants should refrain from responding to specific funding opportunities until definitive timelines are published.
Here we highlight the Mechanisms and Translational Solutions Team Grant, in particular, advising all candidates not to interpret July 2, 2020 as the deadline for submission. CIHR is presently working on re-establishing deadlines and hopes to communicate new timelines in the near future.
