Center for Produce Safety announces a call for preliminary research proposals

The Center for Produce Safety issued a call for preliminary proposals, which includes our research priorities. We encourage scientists to utilize Office Hours and consider Industry Facility Tours.

 

GRANT OPPORTUNITIES WEBPAGE, RESEARCH PRIORITIES

 

Pre-proposals must be received via email to the Center for Produce Safety proposal email address proposals@centerforproducesafety.org by 12:00 noon (Pacific) on Wednesday, November 9, 2022 (no exceptions).

 

OFFICE HOURS PROGRAM, October 3 – 14, virtual meetings, usually 30 minutes

Step 1 – Contact CPS, proposals@centerforproducesafety.org, requesting a time to visit with members of the technical committee (or other experts) to refine their research proposals to ensure they best meet CPS’s priorities — and the industry’s needs.

·         Request should include the following: research priority, questions, and three date preferences with time of day.

Step 2 – Annie Yang, CPS Executive Assistant, will coordinate a Zoom call with members of the technical committee, subject matter expert, or staff. 

 

INDUSTRY FACILITY TOURS, Research scientists preparing a proposal have an opportunity to tour a produce facility before they submit a proposal.

Step 1 – 33 Facilities available throughout the United States. If you do not see a facility that covers your interest, please let us know. Over the next few months, the list have updates.

Step 2 – Send CPS a written request to proposals@centerforproducesafety.org, for the name company, contact information as well as the purpose of the visit. Scientist will make arrangements directly with the industry contacts.

Note: Research scientist cover their own travel expenses.

 

POSTGRADUATE INDUSTRY – IMMERSION PROGRAM FOR MSc. CANDIDATES 

The Center for Produce Safety has embarked on a new pilot program initiative specific for postgraduate students working towards a Master of Science (MSc.) This CPS program is designed to provide a unique research immersion experience built around a focused research objective of mutual interest and benefit to the student, the academic major advisor, and the host produce industry firm(s). The aim of this program is to support the continuing professional development of promising MSc. postgraduate students while conducting produce food safety research in a non-academic environment. For more details – CPS Research Priorities pages 8-10. Master’s students are required to make an appointment for OFFICE HOURS (above).
