SSHRC-NSERC Joint initiative with the National Science Foundation – Global Centres on the Bioeconomy

SSHRC and NSERC have launched a new competition within the National Science Foundation Global Centres joint initiative, pertaining to the Bioeconomy. This initiative includes the National Science Foundation (NSF), the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), the Research Council Finland (RCF), the Innovation Funding Agency Business Finland (BF), the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF), the Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology of the Republic of Korea (MSIT), the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI), the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC), NSERC, and SSHRC.

Grants are valued at up to $500,000 CAN per year for 4-5 years.  

Canadian applicants must partner with a USA-based PI, and optionally may also partner with researchers from Finland, Japan, Republic of Korea, and/or the UK. Applications are to be submitted through the NSERC Alliance platform.
